Contract and Shift details: Hybrid (2 - 3 days in office)

Are you an experienced Financial Accountant looking for an opportunity to make an immediate impact? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where your expertise helps maintain strong financial controls, ensure statutory compliance, and support critical year-end activities? Our Group Finance team are looking for an Interim Financial Accountant to join them on a 3–4 month fixed-term contract during an exciting period of transition.

In this role, you'll take ownership of key financial accounting processes, support year-end reporting and external audit activities, and help ensure our finance operations continue to run smoothly while we recruit a permanent Group Accountant.

What you'll be doing:

  • Taking ownership of the Group's monthly VAT returns, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
  • Managing the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) process and completing Office for National Statistics (ONS) reporting.
  • Supporting month-end close activities, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assisting with year-end financial reporting and preparing audit schedules, statutory accounts working papers and supporting documentation.
  • Liaising with external auditors and responding to audit queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements, statutory reporting deadlines and internal financial controls.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance finance processes and reporting.
  • Providing flexible support across the wider Group Finance team during peak workload periods and other ad hoc financial reporting activities.

What you'll bring:

  • Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA, or be Qualified by Experience (QBE).
  • Previous experience in a Financial Accountant, Group Accountant or Management Accountant role.
  • Strong knowledge of VAT legislation, compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting month-end activities.
  • Experience supporting year-end processes and working with external auditors.
  • A sound understanding of financial controls and accounting principles.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using ERP or accounting systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics or M3 would be advantageous).
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
