Be at the heart of the dairy industry. Build trusted relationships. NMR is looking for an Area Business Manager to build and maintain customer relationships and commercial performance across a defined territory along the Staffordshire M6 corridor. This is a practical, field‑based role where you’ll spend most of your time on farms—working alongside dairy farmers, understanding their businesses, and helping them get real value from data, insights and services.

You will be responsible for retaining and growing existing customers, onboarding new farms, and developing a strong local presence within the dairy community. Using a consultative, solutions‑led approach, you’ll act as a trusted advisor—supporting farms with everything from core milk recording through to health testing and advanced genomics.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage a portfolio of existing farm customers, carrying out regular on‑farm visits focused on retention, service reviews and long‑term value.
  • Build new business by prospecting non‑customers, planning efficient field activity and maintaining a robust pipeline.
  • Promote the full NMR service portfolio, including milk recording, disease testing and genomic services.
  • Help customers understand and use their data as a practical tool to improve herd performance and decision‑making.
  • Act as the main point of contact for customer queries, resolving issues and working closely with service teams to maintain high service standards.
  • Support the onboarding of new farms, ensuring a smooth and positive transition into NMR services.
  • Be an active, visible presence in the local farming community by attending events, organising farm walks, supporting herd competitions and building networks.
  • Represent NMR and the wider AB Agri business at industry shows, meetings and discussion groups.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner businesses, including Feedlync, KW Feeds and Kite Consulting, to deliver joined‑up customer solutions.
  • Keep CRM records accurate and up to date, logging customer interactions, opportunities and follow‑up actions.

What we’re looking for:

  • Demonstrated sales or commercial account management experience, ideally within agriculture, dairy, animal health, genetics or a related sector.
  • Solid knowledge of the dairy industry or wider agricultural market, with the credibility to build trust quickly with farmers.
  • A professional, consultative selling style with a clear focus on customer needs and long‑term relationships.
  • Commercial focus and persistence, judging performance by value, growth and retained business rather than by activity alone.
  • Comfortable working on your own in a home‑based, territory‑led role, managing your own diary and priorities.
  • Clear communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage face to face and influence effectively.
  • Good administrative discipline, including CRM usage and follow‑up management.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively within the territory, with occasional evening meetings.
