This is a position for a skilled scientist and intrapreneur who loves to push a research project from inception to its end. We need an agile, innovative, team player, a well-versed scientist in Gene Therapy, who will drive the research project from inception to hand-over to the preclinical team, through transgene design and in vitro experiments, working in alignment with the other members of the team. We need a proactive player, who can propose ideas, make actionable plans, and present, lead and review them to derisk possible weaknesses. The person will report to the Senior Director, Pipeline expansion lead, in the R&D team.

Responsibilities

  • The role is strategic to the timely delivery of the team goals.
  • The candidate needs to have a good grasp of bioinformatic techniques, since the core responsibilities will be around the transgene design both at DNA and protein level.
  • We expect the position to expand into managing different work packages of the projects, including assay development, managing CROs, and presenting data internally and externally when appropriate.
  • There is the opportunity to spend up to 20% of your time undertaking wet-lab activity (in London).

Qualifications Skills and Capabilities:

Education and Experience:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in industry.
  • Previous experience in industry, preferably in Gene Therapy working in gene design/protein engineering roles, but people with similar experience are welcome to apply.
