Aatom Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Job Evaluation Analyst to join Nottinghamshire County Council on an initial 3-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HR or Reward professional with experience in Hay and NJC/NJE Job Evaluation Schemes to support the delivery of a fair, consistent, and transparent job evaluation service across the organisation.

The Role

You will be responsible for undertaking and delivering job evaluation activities, ensuring roles are assessed accurately and consistently in line with agreed methodologies and equality principles. Working closely with managers, HR colleagues and trade union representatives, you will provide expert advice on job evaluation matters, support appeals and moderation processes, and contribute to pay and reward initiatives across the Council.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct job evaluations across a variety of positions using NJC/NJE and Hay Job Evaluation Schemes
  • Analyse job descriptions, JDQs and supporting documentation to determine evaluation outcomes
  • Assess and review job evaluation appeals, providing evidence-based recommendations
  • Apply evaluation frameworks, procedures and local conventions consistently
  • Prepare reports and documentation for Job Evaluation Panels
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers and HR colleagues on job evaluation processes and outcomes
  • Support moderation processes and ensure the consistency of evaluation decisions
  • Maintain accurate records, audit trails and management information
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of job evaluation processes and documentation
  • Support and mentor trainee analysts where required
  • Build effective working relationships with stakeholders, including trade union representatives
  • Assist with pay and reward projects and initiatives
  • Deputise for the Senior Job Evaluation/QA Officer when required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience undertaking job evaluations within a structured HR, Reward or analytical environment
  • Formal training in the application of Hay Guide Chart and National Joint Council (NJC/NJE) Job Evaluation Schemes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex information
  • Experience interpreting job descriptions, questionnaires and supporting evidence
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain evaluation outcomes clearly and professionally
  • Experience advising managers and stakeholders on HR or job evaluation matters
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Strong IT skills and experience working with systems and data
  • Experience working within a Local Authority, Public Sector or Education environment is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of equal pay principles and employment legislation would be advantageous
