Aatom Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Fleet Manager to work on behalf of a local authority on a 5 month contract, with the possibility of extension.
Job Purpose
Reporting to the Head of Contracts, the Fleet Manager will provide strategic leadership across fleet operations, ensuring full compliance, efficient and sustainable performance, and effective management of the vehicle lifecycle from procurement through to disposal.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full fleet and driver compliance, including roadworthiness, MOTs, inspections, defect reporting, and documentation
- Lead fleet strategy to improve performance, minimise downtime, and control costs
- Manage vehicle maintenance, servicing, repairs, and supplier contracts
- Oversee fleet audits, compliance reporting, and risk management including accidents and insurance claims
- Manage fleet budgets, financial efficiency, and lifecycle replacement planning
- Lead driver compliance frameworks, including training, licence checks, assessments, grey fleet, and drug emission vehicles
- Ensure information security and compliance with council policies and governance requirements
