The Role – Experienced Grounds Maintenance Operative:
We are looking for an experienced Grounds Maintenance Operative to fulfil the below tasks in a safe, professional and efficient manner. To work in accordance with given schedules and company Health and Safety policies/procedures. Reporting to the Managing Director regularly on a particular Works Contract. Maintaining a high standard of work and good flexible attitude in a lone working environment.
Tasks:
- Operate machinery including ride-on and pedestrian mowers, strimmers (chainsaw but not essential)
- Grass cutting - mowing/strimming
- Hedge cutting, pruning
- Weed removal/spraying
- Cleaning and maintaining equipment
- Field marking experience (not essential)
Person Specification - Experienced Grounds Maintenance Operative:
- Self-motivated, able to work independently
- Able to take instruction well
- Good communication with management
- Flexible approach, good attitude
- Able to work at a good pace, but with attention to detail
- Focussed on quality results
- Health and safety aware
- Practical and a problem-solver
- Punctual and reliable
- Enjoys working outside - physical fitness is required for the role
- 2 or more years' experience in grounds maintenance - experience to include: operating and maintaining machinery, grass cutting, hedge trimming, spraying, strimming
- Willing to learn new skills and take on extra training courses where required
Qualifications Required:
- Full, current, clean driving licence and own transport to get to work (essential)
- Current PA1 & PA6 certificate (preferred but not essential)
- Lantra Awards Certificate for the following would be an advantage: Brushcutters/Trimmers; Pedestrian Mowers; Ride on Mowers
We also have a position available on the tree works side of the business for either a trainee groundsman or experienced groundsman but unfortunately this is on a self-employed basis only.

Pay: £12.21-£15.00 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate: Plymouth: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
