Be the Finance Director who transforms a business - not just runs one. If you love getting under the bonnet of a business, rebuilding systems, creating structure, and shaping the next phase of growth, this role will be right up your street.
This growing consumer group operates across the UK and Ireland, combining retail, e-commerce, and trade sales. After a recent acquisition, the foundations are in place, but the finance function now needs a strategic, hands-on leader to take it to the next level.
You'll be the key architect of change: leading consolidation, upgrading systems, embedding control, and driving performance - all while working closely with entrepreneurial founders and investors who are genuinely up for transformation.
The role
- Lead group consolidation (multi-entity, multi-currency) and deliver clear, board-ready insight.
- Take ownership of financial systems and processes, migrating from Sage to Xero and introducing automation and real-time reporting.
- Build the forecasting, cash and stock control frameworks needed for scalable growth.
- Model scenarios for pricing, margin, and capital investment: guiding smart decisions.
- Partner with the leadership team and investors to bring structure, pace, and commercial discipline.
- Develop and lead a small UK finance team, shaping scalable operations across the group.
About you
- Qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with 8+ years' post-qualification experience.
- Strong SME / mid-market background (£10-£50m turnover) ideally across consumer, retail, e-commerce, or B2B.
- Proven experience leading change or transformation - integrating acquisitions, improving systems, or professionalising finance.
- Skilled in FP&A, group consolidation, and system migration (ideally Xero).
- Commercial, confident, and pragmatic - equally comfortable rolling up sleeves and challenging the board.
- Natural communicator; able to make complex data simple and actionable.
The package
- £80,000-£100,000 base + 10-20% bonus, pension, private medical, optional car allowance.
- Hybrid working (typically 3-4 days on-site Solihull) + occasional travel to Ireland.
- Board-level exposure, autonomy, and the chance to leave a genuine legacy in a transforming business.
