Work Location: Manchester - Hybrid

The Role
Aareon UK is building a modern, customer-facing data platform that transforms how property professionals engage with their buildings, assets, compliance obligations, performance reporting, and operational risks. Our vision is simple: a unified, intelligent data experience that customers trust, understand, and can act on instantly. We are now hiring a Data Platform Engineer, responsible for helping design and build the shared data platform that powers analytics, reporting, and AI capabilities across Fixflo, Arthur, HomeMaster, ActiveH, Versaa and beyond.

This role focuses on building the data platform foundations that enable analytics, reporting, and AI‑ready datasets that allow customers to “chat with their buildings,” generate QBR‑ready output at the click of a button, and access persona‑driven dashboards tailored to the real needs of property managers, building owners, leaseholders, on‑site teams, and contractors. As part of our growing data capability, you will help implement the platform standards, architecture patterns, and engineering practices that support our long‑term data strategy. You will also collaborate closely with our AI Innovation and Data Architecture functions as they evolve, ensuring the platform is future‑proofed for predictive analytics and machine learning.

If you’re excited about building something significant from the ground up – with real commercial and product impact – this role is for you. This role offers the opportunity to grow into a senior platform engineering position as the data capability expands.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Building and Evolving the Unified Data Platform: You will help design, build, and maintain the Microsoft Fabric‑based data platform that powers customer‑facing analytics. You will create ingestion pipelines from our SQL‑backed products, design robust data models covering properties, assets, repairs, compliance, contractors and financial domains, and ensure all data is trustworthy, well‑documented, secure, and scalable.
  • Enabling Insight Products and Analytics Experiences: Working with product teams and domain experts, you will enable the datasets and models that power dashboards and insight experiences tailored to each key persona.
  • Building Our Automated Reporting Engine: Enabling Conversational Analytics (“Chat With My Buildings”).
  • Collaborating With Product, AI Innovation & Data Architecture: Contributing to the Data Platform Capability.

About You
You are a hands‑on technologist with a product mindset. You care about how customers use data – not just how it is transformed. You know that great insight design starts with understanding the user and their workflow. You enjoy bringing structure to ambiguous environments and thrive when creating systems, standards, and experiences from scratch. You will be a great fit if you:

  • Combine deep data engineering capability with a passion for customer‑facing analytics.
  • Are excited by applied AI and the future of data‑driven user experiences.
  • Are comfortable working with ambiguity and building from a blank slate.
  • Are energised by creating new capabilities that will scale across multiple products.
  • Enjoy the opportunity to help build a new capability that will scale across multiple products.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Practical experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or related roles within SaaS or product‑led environments.
  • Strong applied experience with Microsoft Fabric or equivalent Azure technologies.
  • Excellent SQL and solid Python capability.
  • Experience supporting analytics, reporting, or insight products through robust data engineering.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional modelling, semantic layers, and data product design.
  • Experience building datasets suitable for AI and LLM‑based natural language querying.
  • Strong knowledge of data contracts, metadata, quality, and governance.

Desirable

  • Experience with property, asset, compliance, maintenance, or operational domains.
  • Exposure to predictive modelling or ML‑enabled product features.
  • Familiarity with embedded analytics, multi‑tenant data permissions, and RLS.
  • Experience in early‑stage or scaling data teams.

What Success Looks Like (0‑12 Months)

  • A unified Fabric‑based data platform is live, stable, and supporting analytics and AI capabilities across products.
  • Persona‑based insight dashboards available across multiple Aareon UK products.
  • Automated QBR/reporting engine launched and widely used.
  • Conversational analytics (“chat with my buildings”) enabled through well‑structured, AI‑ready datasets.
  • Platform supports expansion into predictive analytics and ML capabilities.
  • Data products contribute directly to customer satisfaction, retention, and commercial value.
  • Foundations, standards, and architectural patterns established for future data and AI hires.

Why This Role Matters
This role will shape the future of how Aareon UK’s customers understand and manage their buildings. You will build something that reduces risk, improves operational efficiency, and creates measurable commercial value – both for our customers and for our business. Your work will not sit on an internal dashboard. It will power the next generation of our product portfolio, and it will be visible, impactful, and strategic. If you're ready to build the data engine behind the future of property management, we’d love to speak with you.
