As a critical member of the organisation’s governance structure, the Compliance Officer is expected to proactively reduce compliance risks and ensure that our organisation adheres to ethical standards, laws, and industry regulations.

This will be achieved by prevention of improper conduct of vendors, employees and partners by developing, implementing and enforcing compliance standards and policies.

Key objectives of this role

  • Developing, implementing and enforcing procedures and policies to ensure the organisation’s compliance with industry and government regulations, (including ISO 27001/14001/9001 where appropriate)

  • Consistent risk assessments to recognise areas where the company might be vulnerable to non-compliance.

  • Working with all other departments in the UK operations to ensure quality and information security are embedded within the DNA of everything we do.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and distribute our Quality Management, Environmental and Data Management and Security strategies and controls across the organisations and external stakeholders as required.

  • Implementing governance controls, reviews and employee awareness systems and training for Data Protection, Security, Quality and Environmental Assurance Standards.

  • Manage and report non-compliance with Legislation, Regulation and Standards by providing detailed analysis on data management, protection, quality and environmental related matters.

  • Manage risks of non-compliance through ensuring potential risks are identified, mitigated where possible, and demonstrably addressed with key members of the leadership and operational service team members. This includes our data protection breach and incident management reporting process – applying learning outcomes to mitigate future risks appropriately.

  • Ensure the company is compliant with the relevant ISO standards and guidelines

  • Perform risk assessments and compliance audits to understand risk level, significance and scope

  • Monitor compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies

  • Interpret and communicate regulatory changes, ensuring that your findings are recorded and reported to management

  • Champion compliance best practice and contribute to robust and effective compliance controls within the organization

  • Demonstrable experience in compliance and risk management.

  • Experience in conducting audits and investigations and providing relevant feedback and corrective action recommendations

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills

  • Excellent Stakeholder management

  • Critical problem-solving skills as you’ll often have to make decisions based on the information available, which may be open to interpretation

  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences

  • Negotiation and influencing skills

  • Attention to detail as you will be examining laws and regulations and checking compliance
