We are recruiting Sheet Metal Workers to join our busy Fabrication Shop in Jarrow.

Hours: Monday – Thursday 8.00am – 4.30pm, Friday 8.00am – 1.00pm (37 hours). Overtime is available and would be expected when required. 25 Days holiday. Rate (£): Competitive Pay Available.

Experience:

  • Must be a time served and/or an NVQ level 3 City and Guilds Level 3 Fabrication and Welding qualification.
  • Desirable: Hold a full clean driving license.
  • You must have experience in MIG and TIG welding with a good understanding of technical drawings.
  • Familiar with dimensional marking out, pattern & development.
  • You will possess experience in a range of materials, ferrous and non-ferrous material.

Duties:

  • Assembly of various steel components.
  • You’ll perform a full range of sheet metal operations in line with our Standard Operating Procedures, whilst working to the approved quality standards.
  • Ensure material traceability as adhered to.
  • Quality Assurance of components and finished goods by inspection of own work and others.
  • Operating a range of machinery including guillotines, press brake, mechanical saws, manual punches, power rollers and a variety of power/hand tools.
  • Cleaning down, finishing & polishing materials to a high standard.
  • You must be able to select the correct materials and be skilled in cutting materials by burning, disc cutting or by machine.
  • Minimise waste by using/disposing of raw materials and consumable items efficiently.
  • Perform work in accordance with the company’s health and safety procedures.
  • Work effectively, ensuring the workplace is kept in clean, safe and orderly manner.
  • Be comfortable working on one off pieces and other small batch work.
  • Understanding of and working to manufacturing tolerances.
  • Completion of any other reasonable tasks or requests as required, in order to meet business and departmental needs.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment with fast changing priorities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and customer deadlines.
  • Be a good team worker demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the company and team members.
  • The ability to work on your own, using your own initiative and demonstrate problem solving.
  • Be highly motivated with a good attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional but friendly manner and to act professionally and responsibly while representing the company.
