We are recruiting Sheet Metal Workers to join our busy Fabrication Shop in Jarrow.
Hours: Monday – Thursday 8.00am – 4.30pm, Friday 8.00am – 1.00pm (37 hours). Overtime is available and would be expected when required. 25 Days holiday. Rate (£): Competitive Pay Available.
Experience:
- Must be a time served and/or an NVQ level 3 City and Guilds Level 3 Fabrication and Welding qualification.
- Desirable: Hold a full clean driving license.
- You must have experience in MIG and TIG welding with a good understanding of technical drawings.
- Familiar with dimensional marking out, pattern & development.
- You will possess experience in a range of materials, ferrous and non-ferrous material.
Duties:
- Assembly of various steel components.
- You’ll perform a full range of sheet metal operations in line with our Standard Operating Procedures, whilst working to the approved quality standards.
- Ensure material traceability as adhered to.
- Quality Assurance of components and finished goods by inspection of own work and others.
- Operating a range of machinery including guillotines, press brake, mechanical saws, manual punches, power rollers and a variety of power/hand tools.
- Cleaning down, finishing & polishing materials to a high standard.
- You must be able to select the correct materials and be skilled in cutting materials by burning, disc cutting or by machine.
- Minimise waste by using/disposing of raw materials and consumable items efficiently.
- Perform work in accordance with the company’s health and safety procedures.
- Work effectively, ensuring the workplace is kept in clean, safe and orderly manner.
- Be comfortable working on one off pieces and other small batch work.
- Understanding of and working to manufacturing tolerances.
- Completion of any other reasonable tasks or requests as required, in order to meet business and departmental needs.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with fast changing priorities.
- Ability to work under pressure and customer deadlines.
- Be a good team worker demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the company and team members.
- The ability to work on your own, using your own initiative and demonstrate problem solving.
- Be highly motivated with a good attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate in a professional but friendly manner and to act professionally and responsibly while representing the company.
