Reports to: Executive Director (close working with the Artistic Director)

Key internal relationships: Artistic Director, Producer/Assistant Producer, Executive Director, General Manager, Communications Manager and Finance Manager.

Key external relationships: International promoters, commissioners, partners, agents, and freelance technical teams.

Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 per annum (full-time equivalent), pro rata at 0.6 FTE, with annualised hours.

Contract Type: Part-Time (3 days per week) Fixed term PAYE March 2026 - April 2027

Contract Start Date: March 2026

Contract End-date: April 2027

Hours: Core hours 10:00-16:00. This is a flexible role and will require occasional evening and weekend work.

Location: Hybrid (Office based in Leicester - Belgrave Road)

Holiday entitlement: 20 days FTE (Pro-rata).

Pension info: Leicester Dance Theatre/Aakash Odedra Company provides a workplace pension through The People's Pension scheme, B&CE Financial Services Ltd, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 9QP according to current workplace law.

Probation period: All newly appointed staff to LDT/AOC are subject to a probationary period of 6 months, during which time performance will be reviewed on a regular basis in accordance with the probation procedure. In the event of unsatisfactory performance during your probationary period your employment may be terminated.

Purpose of the post: To lead on international producing, partnerships and touring, supporting the delivery of the artistic programme and the company's future growth.

Overview: The Senior Producer will play a key role in shaping and delivering the company's national and international programme during a significant period of artistic and organisational development. Working closely with the Artistic Director and Executive Director, the post holder will lead on international producing, partnerships, touring and co-commissions. The role combines strategic planning with hands-on producing to support the company's artistic ambition and long-term sustainability.

Areas of responsibility: This is a list of the types of tasks you will be asked to do. It is not intended as an exhaustive list, nor restrictive, but it is intended to give you an idea of the breadth and variety of the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Artistic Director and team to realise ideas for productions, projects, and wider artistic initiatives, supporting the strategic development and effective delivery of the artistic programme in line with the company's vision, agreed timescales and budgets, and Arts Council England priorities.
  • Maintain existing partnerships with international promoters, commissioners, agents and secure new international partnerships.
  • Work closely with the Executive Director, to secure international commissions, co-production investment, premieres and bookings.
  • Negotiate selected live and digital contracts including creative teams in close liaison with the Executive Director.
  • Ensure information needed to negotiate and create contracts is obtained in good time.
  • Communicate effectively with the Creative teams, Associate Producer and Executives to ensure smooth and effective delivery.
  • Manage and support the line management of the Production team.
  • Undertake research and network development and represent the company at selected pitching events to expand our reach in key international markets e.g. Australian Performing Arts Market, Tokyo Performing Arts Market, CINARS – Conférence Internationale des Arts de la Sène?, Tanzmesse.
  • Support the Executive Director and team to identify funding opportunities.
  • With the Executives Director, Artistic Director and team, develop the new business plan preparing the company for a new ACE National Portfolio Round for the future.

Person Specification:

  • Extensive experience as a producer with responsibility for performance projects.
  • Experience of working directly with artists to realise an artistic vision.
  • Current knowledge of international (and UK) contemporary dance.
  • Recent experience of booking international tours.
  • Experience of negotiating international co-commissions, contracts and fees.
  • Experience of initiating, developing, and maintaining partnerships.
  • Experience of international visas, taxation and freight matters.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Experience of managing production budgets within the wider financial constraints and needs of an organisation.
  • Ability to deal sensitively and diplomatically with a variety of people.
  • Willingness to undertake training.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally and in the UK.
  • Experience of working with agents.
  • Knowledge of South Asian dance.
  • Experience of commercial producing.
  • Ability to communicate in a language other than English.
  • Experience of developing and producing artistic digital content and of digital distribution.
