We are looking for an AOCS Engineer to join our busy Engineering team to support a diverse range of activities to deliver on our projects and missions. We are open to applicants with different levels of experience. The role suits someone with an estimation and control background. This opportunity is ideal for someone looking for responsibility and development opportunities of a technical nature in a dynamic, fast-paced working environment with exciting projects and challenging schedules, and able to engage with customers. You will have proven experience from regulated industries with the desire to grow your knowledge and expertise while adding value to our current ways of working. You will not be afraid of challenges and happy to get involved. It is an exciting opportunity to be part of existing projects and missions where your work literally ends up in space! We are open to hybrid working for this role. Please note that in future, you may be required to complete a Basic Disclosure check.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver work tasks and assignments in accordance with required standards and compliance requirements.
- Perform design, modelling, implementation, and testing of attitude and orbit control systems for nano and small satellites.
- Collaborate with the Software Engineering team to transition algorithm designs to functional code, then validate implementation against models.
- Collaborate with Systems Engineering to define technical requirements and to define mission analysis and AOCS scenarios for analysis.
- Perform on-orbit commissioning activities for newly launched spacecraft, including direct communication with the client’s team.
- Analyse test results from each spacecraft and perform hands-on testing on flight hardware.
- Support business development activities by collaborating with potential clients to elicit technical requirements and assess feasibility for proposals.
Skills required:
- Relevant degree or equivalent work experience.
- Proficient user of MATLAB and Simulink.
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured and methodical approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities — capable of bridging technical and programmatic discussions.
- High attention to detail, with consistent and disciplined documentation practices.
- Collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams, fostering a shared sense of mission success.
