The M&A Finance Analyst will support the M&A Finance Director in assessing transactions across the deal lifecycle. The role will focus primarily on financial modelling, valuation, and ad hoc financial analysis to inform strategic decision-making. This is an analytically rigorous role well-suited to a detail-oriented finance professional seeking hands‑on exposure to mergers and acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and review financial models to support M&A transactions, including:
  • Valuation models (DCF)
  • Scenario and sensitivity analysis
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis to support deal evaluation, synergy assessment, and costs to achieve integration plans.
  • Collaborate with integration and cross‑functional colleagues to develop synergy assessments pre-deal.
  • Assist in the assessment of acquisition targets, including:
    • Historical financial performance analysis
    • Forecast evaluation and assumption validation
    • Review of financial due diligence reports and data books.
  • Support the preparation of materials for internal senior management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (e.g. FP&A, tax, legal, business unit) to ensure alignment on deal assumptions and financial outputs.
  • Liaise with external advisers such as due diligence providers, private equity stakeholders as required.
  • Contribute to post-transaction analysis and integration‑related financial work, where needed.
  • Required Skills and Experience

    • Strong financial modelling and valuation skills
    • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial statements
    • Advanced Excel capabilities; experience with PowerPoint desirable
    • High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking
    • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet tight deadlines

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline
    • Professional qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CFA) is advantageous but not essential
    • Prior experience in corporate finance, transaction services, investment banking, consulting, or a corporate M&A/strategy team preferred
