ROLE PURPOSE

  • Full ownership of the monthly management accounting cycle for your hotel portfolio.
  • Complete management accounting pack reviews of profit & loss and balance sheet, ensuring variances and areas of risk are identified and actioned appropriately.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly VAT returns and assist with VAT inspections as required.
  • Review the work of the Finance Assistant, providing coaching and development, and working to improve efficiency of daily processes.
  • Overall responsibility for Bank Reconciliation and Accounts Payable controls, supporting the Finance Assistant with process improvements, and in reaching resolution for any outstanding issues.
  • Preparation of year end audit files, and liaising with auditors during clients' external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and audit requirements by maintaining robust controls.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, helping you and your team generate ideas to develop processes and controls.
  • Dealing with ad hoc queries and requests from hotel and client teams.
  • Assist the Financial Controllers in developing systems and process controls to provide a robust control environment which meets client needs.
  • Complete ad hoc accounting and project work as required.

Experience & qualifications

  • Qualified by experience, Desirable but not essential Qualified or working towards (ICAS/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent)
  • Preferably hotel accounting experience with management accounting experience (ideally working on a client portfolio)
  • Supervision experience desirable.

Skills Required

  • Proactive self-starter with ability to problem solve.
  • Organising and prioritising work to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of IT literacy, including strong Excel skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience of Business Central highly desirable.
  • Hotel knowledge would be advantageous.
