ROLE PURPOSE

  • Manage a portfolio of private client tax compliance clients, acting as the primary point of contact.
  • Ensure completion of MTD quarterly reporting, Final Declarations, Self-Assessment Tax Returns, Trust Accounts and related compliance work within statutory deadlines.
  • Manage portfolio financial performance, including WIP, billing, fee reviews and proposals for new work.
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional services and cross-sell across the wider AAB Group.
  • Prepare and deliver ad-hoc advisory work, including:
    • Capital Gains Tax calculations and reporting
    • Trust registrations
    • Remuneration planning
    • Other private client tax matters
  • Work closely with colleagues across Tax Advisory and other business units to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Review work prepared by junior team members and provide technical guidance.
  • Support, mentor and develop more junior colleagues.
  • Contribute to the adoption of new technologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • For Manager level applicants, take a leading role in developing client relationships, winning new business and contributing to team growth.

Experience & qualifications

Essential

  • CTA, ATT, CA, STEP or another relevant professional qualification, or equivalent qualified by experience.
  • Experience managing a private client tax compliance portfolio.
  • Strong client relationship and communication skills.
  • Ability to undertake technical research and provide practical solutions.
  • Experience reviewing work and supporting junior team members.
  • Proactive and commercially minded approach.
  • Demonstrable experience operating at Assistant Manager level or above.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and identify business development opportunities.
  • Experience leading, coaching and developing junior team members.

Desirable

  • Experience using CCH Personal Tax and related applications.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience working with trusts, estates and wider private client tax matters.
