Metals Trader (Proprietary Commodities Trading)

Our client is a top proprietary trading firm and member of the London Metal Exchange (LME) seeking an experienced and profitable metals trader to join their London desk and run an independent trading book. The role requires a demonstrable track record of P&L generation in base or ferrous metals over at least 3+ years.

Position Overview:

You will take ownership of a discretionary trading book focused on LME-traded metals or related physical/derivative strategies. Working alongside some of the industry’s top talent, you’ll have the opportunity to scale your strategy within a high-performance infrastructure, strong risk management support, and direct access to LME membership benefits.

As a Metals Trader, you will have autonomy over your trading strategy and capital allocation within a risk-managed framework. The role offers significant upside for entrepreneurial, performance-driven candidates looking to scale a successful track record in a dynamic trading environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Deploy a proven and profitable discretionary trading strategy in metals, preferably across LME instruments.
Manage risk independently while aligning with the firm\'s broader trading and risk framework.
Collaborate with operations, risk, and technology teams to optimize trading performance.
Generate consistent P&L while maintaining strict discipline and capital preservation.
Leverage the firm’s infrastructure and LME membership to execute efficiently.
Continuously refine trading ideas based on market developments.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Minimum 3+ years of proven, profitable proprietary trading experience in base or ferrous metals.
Strong knowledge of LME markets, structure, pricing, and physical flows.
Experience trading outright, spreads, and arbitrage strategies.
Solid understanding of risk frameworks and P&L attribution.
Entrepreneurial and self-motivated mindset with strong decision-making skills.
Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Based in London or open to relocating to London (relocation support possible).
