We are supporting an established futures brokerage in the appointment of a Head of LME Trading to lead and develop its London Metal Exchange trading business. The successful candidate will have extensive experience across base metals and LME products, with a strong understanding of exchange-traded and OTC markets, client execution, risk management and brokerage operations. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for managing the trading desk, strengthening client relationships and driving the continued growth of the firm’s metals franchise.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the firm’s LME trading and execution activities across base metals.
- Manage, develop and mentor a team of traders, brokers and execution professionals.
- Execute client orders across LME futures, options, spreads and related OTC products.
- Build and maintain relationships with producers, consumers, merchants, trading houses, hedge funds and institutional clients.
- Develop the firm’s LME client offering and identify new revenue opportunities.
- Oversee trading risk, position limits, operational controls and regulatory compliance.
- Work closely with clearing, operations, compliance, risk and technology teams.
- Monitor market developments, liquidity conditions, positioning and key fundamental drivers across the metals complex.
- Support the recruitment and expansion of the broader metals trading team.
- Represent the firm within the LME and wider international metals-trading community.
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in LME trading, metals brokerage or a closely related role.
- Strong knowledge of LME futures, options, spreads, carries and physical-market hedging.
- Established relationships across the global metals and commodities market.
- Proven experience managing a trading or brokerage desk.
- Strong understanding of exchange rules, clearing, margining, market conduct and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrable track record of generating revenue and developing client relationships.
- Excellent leadership, communication and commercial skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
Preferred Background
- Candidates may come from an LME brokerage, investment bank, commodity trading house, merchant, producer or specialist metals-trading firm.
- Experience building or expanding an LME desk would be particularly valuable.
