We're supporting a client in the search for an experienced Operations Manager to lead the operational and commercial delivery of projects across the business. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a key leadership role with a clear pathway to Operations Director.
Our client is a specialist engineering services provider supporting the offshore drilling and energy sectors, delivering inspection, maintenance, repair and refurbishment services for critical drilling equipment.
The successful candidate will oversee projects from enquiry through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest standards. You'll lead project planning, resource allocation, procurement, client relationships and technical teams, driving operational performance, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage all operational activities across the business
- Oversee projects from enquiry, quotation and planning through to completion
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to specification
- Prepare and review quotations, budgets and project margins
- Manage client relationships and act as the main point of contact throughout project delivery
- Provide technical leadership and support to engineers, technicians and workshop personnel
- Coordinate procurement, resource planning and subcontractor management
- Monitor operational performance, utilisation, profitability and customer satisfaction
- Develop and mentor operational teams, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Present regular operational reports and support strategic business growth initiatives
- Strong technical background within drilling equipment, rotating equipment, or mechanical engineering environments
- Proven experience managing projects, people and operational delivery
- Commercially astute with experience overseeing budgets, quotations and profitability
- Confident liaising with clients, senior stakeholders and technical teams
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to work at both strategic and operational levels
