AA Euro Group is currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Manager on behalf of a leading structural steel contractor delivering major infrastructure and construction projects across the UK and Ireland.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional to join a growing organisation with a strong reputation for delivering complex steel erection packages safely and efficiently across sectors including transportation, energy, industrial, and large-scale commercial developments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading all health, safety, environmental, and compliance activities across multiple projects, ensuring the highest standards of safety performance are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote a positive health and safety culture across all projects and operational teams.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain company health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, industry regulations, and client requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety reviews across active projects.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for senior management.
  • Review and approve project-specific Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Work closely with project managers, site managers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure safe working practices are maintained.
  • Monitor high-risk activities including steel erection, lifting operations, working at height, temporary works, and plant operations.
  • Deliver health and safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programmes.
  • Support tender submissions and pre-construction activities by providing health and safety input.
  • Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and external auditors as required.
  • Track and report on key health and safety performance indicators.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and best practice throughout the business.

Requirements

  • Degree, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years` experience in a Health & Safety management role within construction, structural steel, infrastructure, civil engineering, or industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of current health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
  • Experience managing health and safety across multiple construction sites simultaneously.
  • Proven experience overseeing high-risk activities such as steel erection, crane operations, lifting activities, and working at height.
  • Excellent incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities with the confidence to engage at all levels of an organisation.
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
  • Proficiency in preparing reports, safety documentation, and management presentations.
  • Full UK or Irish driving licence.

Desirable

  • NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6 in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent.
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards chartered status.
  • Experience working on major infrastructure projects including rail, bridges, energy, utilities, or industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Temporary Works and lifting operations awareness.
  • Experience managing environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.
