AA Euro Group are currently seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join a contractor working on Battery Storage and Substation projects across Scotland, seeking both permanent and self-employed positions. Previous experience working on Substations or Battery storage Facilities is essential for this position.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in civil engineering within construction or infrastructure projects.
- Experience working on energy, utility, power, battery storage, or substation projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of earthworks, drainage, roads, reinforced concrete, and infrastructure delivery.
- Experience coordinating with utility providers, DNOs, ICPs, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Knowledge of UK construction standards, CDM regulations, and health & safety requirements.
- Experience working with main contractors or specialist civil engineering contractors.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and design information.
- Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, ITPs, and site documentation.
- CSCS Card required.
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification preferred.

- Support the delivery of battery energy storage system (BESS) facilities and electrical substation projects.
- Coordinate day-to-day civil engineering activities on site.
- Supervise earthworks, foundations, drainage, ducting, access roads, and reinforced concrete works.
- Monitor construction works to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Liaise with design teams, subcontractors, utility providers, and project stakeholders.
- Review and manage technical documentation, RFIs, permits, and site records.
- Ensure all works are carried out in line with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Assist with project planning, sequencing, and programme coordination.
- Conduct site inspections and quality checks.
- Support commercial teams with variations, progress reporting, and material tracking.
- Identify and resolve technical or construction-related issues.
- Assist with testing, commissioning, and project handover activities.
- Maintain accurate site records, as-built information, and reporting documentation.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
