AA Euro Group are seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer to join a major, long-term utilities infrastructure project based in Dumfries. This is a site-based role, and candidates must live within a commutable distance of Dumfries. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience on a live utilities project, with a strong emphasis on setting out and site engineering duties, working closely with senior engineers and site management.
Responsibilities
- Setting out for civil works including drainage, ducting, foundations, and associated utilities infrastructure
- Assisting with day to day site engineering activities
- Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and method statements
- Carrying out site measurements, surveys, and as built records
- Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with design, quality, and health & safety standards
- Liaising with subcontractors, site supervisors, and project engineers
- Supporting QA documentation, permits, and site records
- Reporting progress and technical issues to senior engineering staff
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of setting out techniques (Total Station/GPS experience desirable)
- Willingness to work in a fully site-based role
- Must be based within a commutable distance of Dumfries
- Good knowledge of basic civil engineering principles
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Right to work in the UK
- CSCS card (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable
- Previous site placement or graduate experience on civil or utilities projects
- Familiarity with utilities works (water, power, telecoms, gas, or drainage)
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a wider site team
