About the Role
We are working with a growing engineering and manufacturing business that is expanding its customer base and increasing the level of machine customisation across its product range. As a result, they are looking to appoint a Service Engineer to support installation, commissioning, and ongoing customer support activities. This is a hands-on, field-based role with a strong mix of mechanical, electrical, and software responsibilities, offering exposure to both UK and international projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and service machinery at customer sites
- Respond to breakdowns, perform fault finding, and implement effective solutions
- Carry out machine upgrades, maintenance, and production line integrations
- Write, debug, and commission software on-site
- Provide remote diagnostics and technical support (phone/email)
- Deliver customer training during installations and handovers
- Maintain accurate service logs and documentation
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve technical and design issues
- Support spare parts enquiries and liaise with internal teams for quotations
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering
- Experience fault finding and servicing industrial machinery
- Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach
- Basic PLC programming experience (e.g. Siemens or Allen Bradley)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good IT skills (MS Office)
- Excellent communication skills
- Full, valid passport and willingness to travel (UK and overseas)
Desirable:
- 5+ years’ experience in machinery service/maintenance roles
- Experience with packaging machinery or production lines
- Electrical certification (e.g. working with 3-phase systems)
- Experience in commissioning and validation processes
- Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering)
- Chartered status or working towards it
