Our client is a well-established engineering and construction organisation seeking a CAD Technician to join their central design function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong 2D AutoCAD skills who is looking to develop their technical capability and progress within a structured engineering environment.
The Role
As a CAD Technician, you will provide CAD support from the drawing office, producing high-quality engineering drawings and associated documentation in collaboration with designers, estimators, project managers, and engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing 2D engineering drawings using AutoCAD, with occasional exposure to 3D work (training provided where required)
- Ensuring all drawings meet agreed CAD and BIM standards
- Maintaining QA procedures, including drawing registers and document control
- Working to agreed timescales and liaising closely with internal stakeholders and external clients
- Assisting engineers with data input, coordinated setting-out drawings, and schedules
- Issuing drawings to site teams and clients accurately and on time
- Confidently communicating with clients via phone and email as required
About You
You will be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Essential requirements:
- Minimum of two A-Levels (or equivalent)
- GCSEs (grade C or above) in Maths, English, and Science
- Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to work
Desirable experience:
- Previous experience within the construction or engineering sector
- Hands-on experience using AutoCAD
