We are seeking a highly capable Project Design Engineer to join our growing design office. This is a client-facing role combining mechanical design, project management, and technical problem-solving.
Who we are: A4 Plus Limited is an established CAD consultancy and technical recruitment specialist, founded in 1990. We provide end-to-end mechanical design solutions—from concept through to prototype and production-ready deliverables. Our in-house design studio and workshop enable us to deliver complete, turnkey engineering solutions to a diverse client base.
The Job: Our work varies from simple draughting to conceptual design. The work is varied, and projects are frequent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
- Work closely with clients to define requirements, specifications, and objectives
- Attend meetings (on-site and virtual) and provide technical expertise throughout project lifecycles
- Support pre-sales activities, including technical input and quotation estimation
- Produce 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings to industry standards (BS8888)
The Person: We are looking for a skilled Design Engineer, from any background. This is an office position (with some hybrid working) so you must live within commutable distance of March, Cambridgeshire.
- Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Production Engineering
- Strong CAD experience (SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor preferred)
- Proven ability to manage projects and prioritise workload effectively
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with clients and suppliers
- Commercial awareness and ownership mindset
- Full UK driving licence and access to own transport
- Right to work in the UK
