We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to play a key role in securing new business and supporting the successful delivery of mechanical installation and maintenance projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional who can accurately assess project requirements, prepare competitive tenders, and work closely with clients, suppliers, and operational teams to convert opportunities into profitable contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review enquiries, specifications, drawings, and tender documentation
  • Conduct site surveys and assess project requirements
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, quotations, and tender submissions
  • Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions
  • Liaise with clients during the tender process and attend pre-contract meetings
  • Support contract handovers to project delivery teams
  • Maintain estimating records, pricing databases, and cost benchmarks
  • Contribute to business development and pipeline planning activities

About You

Essential

  • Proven experience in mechanical estimating within the building services or M&E sector
  • Strong understanding of mechanical installations and maintenance works
  • Excellent commercial awareness and cost-planning skills
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • A methodical and analytical approach to pricing work
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple tender submissions
  • A proactive mindset focused on accuracy, profitability, and client satisfaction

Desirable

  • Mechanical or Building Services qualification
  • Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Excel
