The Job:
This is a hands-on engineering role within a busy production environment, ideal for an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer with a strong electrical bias. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving the reliability of automated packaging machinery, helping to minimise downtime and support ongoing operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production equipment
- Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns to minimise disruption
- Lead electrical fault finding on machinery, including control panels, sensors, and drives
- Support mechanical maintenance on conveyors, bearings, belts, and gearboxes
- Identify and implement continuous improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability
- Conduct site and equipment assessments, recommending corrective actions
- Assist with installation and commissioning of new machinery
- Support general site maintenance where required (with priority on production equipment)
The Person
- Good experience in a multi-skilled engineering role
- Strong electrical bias (approx. 70% electrical / 30% mechanical)
- Proven experience working with packaging or automated machinery
- Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Proactive, hands-on approach with a strong sense of ownership
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
