We are representing a well-established market leader in the design and manufacture of food processing equipment for the convenience and ready meals sector. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join their established projects team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer with proven project delivery experience to take ownership of complex engineering projects from order through to installation and handover.
The Role
The Project Engineer will take full responsibility for contracts from receipt of order through to successful installation and close-out. Acting as the primary customer interface, you will coordinate internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and commercially controlled. This is primarily an office-based role, with regular UK site visits and occasional overseas travel. You may also be required to oversee installations and manage subcontractors both in the UK and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and agree project scope with customers and internal sales teams
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules (Gantt charts)
- Produce and manage project documentation including scope of supply, timing plans, P&IDs, BOMs and layout drawings
- Specify and source bought-out components and equipment
- Manage project changes and maintain commercial awareness throughout
- Organise equipment delivery, installation, and site resources
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT/PDI) and Site Acceptance Testing
- Coordinate packing, shipping and export documentation where required
- Prepare installation plans and RAMS documentation
- Deliver training and manage final documentation handover
- Ensure timely invoicing in line with project milestones
About You
- Experience in a Project Engineer role within a process engineering environment (food processing highly desirable)
- Proven track record of successfully delivering engineering projects
- Strong technical knowledge with the ability to interpret P&IDs and layout drawings
- Commercially aware with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- Excellent communication skills and confident liaising with clients and internal teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and MS Project
- Experience using AutoCAD LT
- Knowledge of steam systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, pipework and basic electrical control systems advantageous
- Full UK Driving Licence
