Are you an experienced Control Panel Builder looking for a hands-on role working on bespoke industrial equipment? We are recruiting for an experienced Control Panel Builder to join a specialist electrical team, building and wiring high-quality, bespoke control panels for complex industrial machinery. This is a workshop-based position suited to someone who takes pride in producing accurate, reliable electrical assemblies.
The Role
You will be responsible for the electrical construction and wiring of a variety of bespoke control panels, working from detailed electrical schematics, mechanical drawings and bills of materials. Your responsibilities will include:
- Building and wiring low-voltage control panels, working with 110–600V AC and 24V DC systems
- Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical layouts and BOMs
- Installing and terminating components including circuit protection devices, relays, solenoid valves, contactors, inverter drives and soft starts
- Working with PLC and HMI systems, including Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley and Siemens
- Building a variety of enclosures including junction boxes, HMI enclosures, MCCs and multi-door cabinets
- Fabricating and assembling panel components using hand and power tools
- Measuring, marking and working with materials including stainless steel, GRP, mild steel and galvanised steel
- Carrying out continuity testing and basic functional checks
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe workshop environment
- Working closely with design and test engineers to deliver high-quality finished equipment
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- At least 4 years' experience in electrical panel building
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Experience with wire selection, crimping, ferrule termination and cable routing
- Good understanding of both AC and DC control systems
- Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship
- Good practical workshop skills and experience using hand and power tools
- A strong understanding of safe electrical working practices
- The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Formal electrical qualifications
- Completed electrical apprenticeship
- Experience using EPLAN
- Experience working from detailed BOMs
- Background in food machinery, industrial automation or similar manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of electrical testing and panel safety procedures
