£30,000 – £40,000 | UK | Office-based with hybrid considered
We’re working with a well-established, multi-disciplinary consultancy looking to strengthen its Development team with the appointment of a Town Planner. This is a broad role offering exposure to regeneration and development schemes across the UK, including sports facilities, recreational developments, residential sites, commercial projects and wider urban regeneration work. You’ll be joining a collaborative team where planners are closely involved from early-stage discussions through to submission and delivery.
The role
You’ll support senior members of the team in preparing pre-application and full planning submissions, helping to shape strategy and coordinate input from internal disciplines and external consultants. Your work will include:
- Preparing planning statements and supporting documentation
- Assisting with development appraisals and planning advice
- Attending site visits nationwide
- Liaising directly with clients to understand their objectives
- Coordinating with technical specialists and sub-consultants
- Supporting public consultation and stakeholder engagement
- Managing multiple applications and research tasks concurrently
This is a hands-on role with real responsibility and visibility across projects.
About you
You’ll hold a degree accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute and either be MRTPI qualified or working towards chartership. Ideally, you’ll bring around two years’ post-qualification experience, although strong candidates with slightly less or more experience will be considered. Clear written communication is essential, as report writing forms a significant part of the role. A full UK driving licence is required due to site visits. An interest in sport, recreation or environmental development would be advantageous but is not essential.
What’s on offer
The salary range is £30,000–£40,000 depending on experience, alongside a comprehensive benefits package including pension, enhanced parental leave, life insurance, health and wellbeing support, EV charging, cycle to work scheme and free on-site parking. Hybrid working can be considered.
If you’re looking to join a stable, growing consultancy where you can broaden your project exposure and continue progressing towards senior level, we’d be happy to discuss this opportunity in confidence.
