We’re looking for a dynamic and commercially minded Head of Investment to lead the strategic delivery of our planned maintenance and investment programmes across our homes and estates. This is a high-impact leadership role, ideal for someone who wants to bring fresh thinking and long-term value to a purpose-driven organisation.

As a key member of the Senior Management Team within Asset Management, you’ll work collaboratively with Heads of Service across Property and the wider business, ensuring our assets are safe, sustainable, and well-managed – not just for today, but for years to come.

What You\’ll Be Doing

Strategic Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead the delivery of multi-million-pound revenue and capital investment programmes, ensuring transparency, value for money, and resilience.
  • Develop tactical plans to optimise the management of assets, forecasting against a 5-year investment budget and maintaining an 18-month rolling programme aligned with asset strategies.
  • Define and communicate clear investment objectives in partnership with contractors and internal teams, both in the short and long term.

Programme & Contractor Management

  • Oversee procurement, commissioning, and management of contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and organisational standards.
  • Establish effective monitoring processes for projects, ensuring compliance with contract terms and safety, quality, and customer care standards.
  • Manage large and diverse work programmes, including high-value repairs and major void projects, providing autonomy to select the most efficient delivery routes.

Team & Performance Management

  • Provide visionary leadership to your team, including 3 Contracts Managers, 1 Commercial Manager, 6 Contracts Surveyors, 3 Trainee Surveyors, 1 Quantity Surveyor, and 2 Project Officers.
  • Uphold robust performance management, regularly reporting on KPIs, standards, and targets while fostering a culture of development, wellbeing, and performance improvement.
  • Deputise for the Asset Director as required, contributing to the leadership, culture, and strategic direction of the entire service.

About You

  • You’re a strategic leader with a hands-on approach who can navigate complex programmes with both precision and passion. You’re adept at:
  • Balancing detailed financial management with a broad strategic vision.
  • Leading diverse teams and motivating them through change.
  • Managing contractor relationships while ensuring probity, transparency, and value for money.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships and effectively communicating at all levels.
  • Bringing a continuous improvement mindset to every project and initiative.

What you’ll bring

  • Degree or equivalent in a building/management-related discipline and/or evidence of significant relevant experience.
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent) or a Construction CSCS card.
  • Proven experience in managing programmes of work exceeding ÂŁ10m, including contract management and complex project delivery from inception to completion.
  • Demonstrable experience in building relationships, managing and motivating people, and handling large budgets with commercial acumen.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with strong interpersonal capabilities.
  • Proficiency with IT systems, databases, and Microsoft packages, including data analysis and reporting.
  • Robust knowledge of housing law, leaseholder consultation, and property management legislation.
  • A proactive approach to change management, continuous improvement, and digital initiatives.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
