Salary: £13.45 per hour

Contract: Permanent, Part Time (20 hours a week)

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 09:30-13:30

We’re looking for a Kitchen Assistant to support the delivery of high-quality meals and excellent customer service within an Extra Care setting, helping to create a safe, welcoming and well-run dining experience for residents every day. You’ll be part of a friendly catering team, supporting meal preparation, food service and kitchen operations, while helping to maintain high standards of hygiene, safety and resident care. This is a varied role where organisation, reliability and a positive approach really matter.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support food preparation and meal service, including preparing packed teas and serving meals to residents
  • Check resident food profiles, including allergies, preferences and IDDSI ratings, adhering to Company and Environmental Health Standards
  • Maintain cleanliness across the kitchen, storerooms, kitchen office and equipment areas, including washing uniforms on site
  • Support the Chef Manager with deliveries, stock rotation and removing out-of-date items, highlighting when stock levels are running low
  • Carry out Health & Safety and Food Hygiene checks in line with A2Dominion Catering Standards and ensuring all practices meet the statutory regulations, including the Registered Homes Act 1984, and A2Dominion’s Health and Safety policy
  • Support the Chef Manager in preparing for inspections, audits and reporting requirements
  • Provide a high standard of front-of-house service within the restaurant environment
  • Take responsibility for acting up as Chef when required, following completion of induction and training
  • Complete and keep up to date with mandatory training requirements set by A2Dominion

More About You

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English (Grades A*–C) is desirable
  • Cooking experience and knowledge of an Extra Care environment would be beneficial
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen and catering environment
  • Able to engage with elderly, vulnerable customers and their families in a respectful and caring way
  • Good awareness of food hygiene, health and safety and safe working practices
  • Confident using computers for online training and basic systems
  • Reliable, organised and able to work as part of a team
