LEAD MAINTENANCE ENGINEER

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading global manufacturer of castings for the aerospace, defence and nuclear industries.

Our client now requires a qualified Maintenance Engineer with a minimum of 5 years plant maintenance experience, gained ideally within an industrial environment.

The successful candidate will be playing a vital role in the manufacture of products for the aerospace, defence and nuclear industries for the UK.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

You will be responsible for the continuous running of equipment and machinery within the manufacturing units within the foundry and machine shop.

You will oversee routine maintenance of plant and organise repairs of pumps, motors, pneumatic, hydraulic and other equipment as required.

This is a mechanically biased role, but knowledge and electrical qualifications would be advantageous.

Your role is vital to the efficiency, development and progress of manufacturing output and control of product through the business.

Your objective will be to improve production facilities, reduce the incidence of costly breakdowns and develop strategies to improve the reliability and safety of plant.

The role is hands-on and requires an expert mechanical aptitude, flexibility, common sense, with ancillary skills such as welding being an advantage.

Working Days and Hours: Monday to Friday, 0700 to 1530. (Weekend work may be required if essential work has to be undertaken)

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Lead Maintenance Engineer, you'll need to

  • Carry our routine maintenance work and respond to equipment faults.
  • Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs.
  • Undertake planned preventative maintenance of plant and ensure staff are trained to carry out systematic review of plant.
  • Diagnose breakdown problems.
  • Fit new parts and ensure equipment is working correctly.
  • Design maintenance strategies, procedures in order to control and Improve health and safety standards for safe machine operation.
  • Control maintenance tools, stores and equipment.
  • Heath, Safety and COSHH responsibilities.
  • Undertaking Risk assessments Qualification

REQUIREMENTS

  • Maintenance/Technician NVQ level 3 or equivalent discipline is essential.
  • Applicants that hold IMI LEVEL 3/4 Diploma in vehicle maintenance & repair will be considered.
  • Qualification in an electrical engineering discipline is also desirable.
  • It would also be an advantage to hold a NEBOSH Health and Safety Qualification, although this can be taken once in the role
