A24 is looking to hire a Finance Executive to support its UK division. As a key member of the team, this role will be involved in all aspects of finance for a production and distribution company, from development through to post-production for UK productions, as well as distribution funding and corporate transacting. This role will work closely with the Production, Business and Creative teams, as well as the Corporate Finance and Accounting teams to ensure that the A24 UK division finance procedures are adhered to and both internal and external A24 responsibilities are handled with care. This role will work from and be based in A24's London office. Please note that candidates must have legal authorization to work in the UK.

Initial Responsibilities

  • Manage the on-set accounting staffing for assigned projects during development, prep, production and post production.
  • Oversee on-set accounting responsibilities such as accounts payable, payroll, journal entries, etc. for full lifecycle of projects (early prep, development, writers room, post production, and delivery).
  • Provide guidance and oversight to on-set accountants during production, as it relates to onboarding, introducing processes, and sharing accounting manuals and templates.
  • Oversee the accounting wrap and delivery process for production and post production.
  • Set up and maintain production finance infrastructure systems in advance of productions starting in the form of bank account, accounting system, payroll set up.
  • Build and analyze above the line payment schedules, production cash flow exposure, and various other finance related reports.
  • Complete production budget review and analyses in the form of union guidelines, foreign currency, development deals, above-the-line payment schedules, below-the-line staffing and post production plan.
  • Act as point person and work closely with internal cross functional teams for project specific finance information in the form of maintaining and sharing reports.
  • Liaise with partners’ production finance & accounting teams as well as production service companies, as it relates to receiving reports, license fee invoicing, cash flow funding, tax credits, etc and various other production related AP and AR responsibilities.
  • Assist with UK entity formation and structure, as well as VAT registration and filings, and ensure compliance with UK tax legislation, liaising with corporate accounting and corporate tax internal teams as well as hired service providers.
  • File & track VAT returns for both A24 productions and A24 corporate.
  • Track and process any A24 based development and delivery payments to talent and partners.
  • Oversee the overall cash flow and funding processes for each production, as well as track and ensure receipt of show specific tax incentives.
  • Manage audits including tax credits, insurance claims, corporate tax audits, union audits, and partner specific audits.
  • Develop relationships with commissioners, audit firms, accountants, banks, financing houses, producers and payroll companies to build resources and foster networks.
  • Handle ad hoc corporate accounting projects as needed.

Ideal Candidate

  • Production finance professional with UK specific experience in TV Drama & Film.
  • 8+ years of previous production finance experience working in either an in-house production company or media company as a finance executive or production controller.
  • Experience working with and setting up production accounting and payroll software and multi currency bank accounts such as PSL+, Sargent Disc, Coutts Bank, etc.
  • Experience in overall budget building process and review, with specific experience in Movie Magic budgeting software.
  • Broad understanding of international production incentives.
  • Familiarity with UK corporate accounting and tax requirements such as entity registration, VAT registration, VAT filings, corporate tax filings, incentive applications, incentive audits, and tax returns.
  • Solid understanding of payroll process, agreements and tax requirements.
  • Ability to understand and articulate issues using creative, production or financial context.
  • Must exhibit personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics along with aptitude and enthusiasm for complex problem solving and analysis.
  • Motivated self-starter skilled in multitasking, time management, and strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to strive in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Humble, diligent and resourceful.
