Groupage Transport Planner
Location: West Thurrock, Essex
Salary: Up to £42,000 DOE
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00–18:00 or 10:00–19:00
We are working with a busy and expanding logistics company in West Thurrock who are looking for an experienced Groupage Transport Planner to join their team. The role focuses on coordinating and optimising the movement of multi-customer loads (groupage/part-load/general haulage), ensuring deliveries are made efficiently, cost-effectively and in full compliance.
The Role
You will be responsible for planning daily transport operations, allocating work to drivers and vehicles, adjusting routes when needed, and keeping both internal teams and customers informed. You’ll monitor live movements, deal with issues as they arise, and ensure service levels are achieved while keeping costs under control.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule groupage / part-load / general haulage movements
- Maximise vehicle utilisation and ensure efficient route planning
- Liaise with drivers, warehouse teams and customers throughout the day
- Track deliveries in real time and resolve issues or delays promptly
- Maintain accurate transport records and system updates
- Ensure compliance with transport legislation, WTD and company policy
- Report performance and identify areas for improvement
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in transport planning (groupage, pallet, multi-drop or similar)
- Strong communicator – confident dealing with drivers, customers and internal teams
- Commercially aware with a problem-solving mindset
- Proficient with transport systems and Microsoft Office (Excel in particular, others are a bonus)
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
- Confident, professional and proactive approach
