About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join a well-established and growing business based in Southend-on-Sea. Reporting to the Accounts Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accounting records are accurate, up to date, and maintained to a high standard. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive and organised finance professional looking to develop their career within a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain bookkeeping records from source documentation.
  • Process purchase ledger invoices and credit notes, resolving supplier queries as required.
  • Raise and process sales invoices and distribute customer statements.
  • Carry out credit control activities, including liaising with customers via telephone and email.
  • Process BACS and international payments.
  • Manage digital VAT requirements and submissions.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations.
  • Reconcile bank accounts across multiple currencies, including GBP, USD and EUR.
  • Handle foreign currency payments and receipts.
  • Post invoices, receipts and payments accurately within the accounting system.
  • Maintain organised and accurate accounting records and filing systems.
  • Support the Accounts Manager with reporting and ad hoc finance tasks.
  • Assist with general bookkeeping and administrative duties as required.
