Senior Civil / Structural Engineer – Essex
Salary: Competitive package (commensurate with experience)
We are recruiting for a Senior Civil / Structural Engineer to join and help grow our client’s Engineering Team based in Essex.
Our client is an award-winning, employee-owned civil, structural, glass and façade engineering consultancy that has been established in the UK for many years.
They offer engineering design, building surveying, and expert witness services nationwide through a network of six offices. Working across a range of sectors for both private and public sector clients, they build long-term relationships to deliver schemes from concept through to detailed design and construction phase.
As a Senior Civil / Structural Engineer, you will work closely with Directors, Business Development, and Marketing teams to develop business opportunities with new and existing clients. You will meet clients to define scopes of work and develop proposals, while supporting the technical development of junior staff.
The Role:
- Manage a variety of small to medium projects with minimal supervision
- Lead and grow a team, oversee surveys, design work, technical reports, contract administration, and client liaison
- Deliver work to a high standard, on time and within budget
- Mentor junior team members and support their professional development
Who We’re Looking For:
- Ideally Chartered or progressing toward a professional qualification (MRICS, CEng with ICE and/or IStructE)
- Broad capability in building structures with substantial experience
- Ability to manage and mentor multiple team members
- Experience in building surveys and structural assessments is beneficial
- Proficient in relevant drawing and design software
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and standards
- Commercially aware with project management experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiar with JCT contracts and Building Regulations
About You:
- Degree-qualified in Building Surveying or a related discipline
- Strong track record in project management, surveys, and contract administration
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- Ideally MRICS (or working towards it)
