We are seeking an experienced and driven Sales Engineering Manager (Rail) to develop and expand the sales of service packages and spare parts on behalf of our client based in Kent. You will play a pivotal role in driving sales strategies, maintaining strong client relationships, and achieving sustainable business growth within the rail industry.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop sales and marketing strategies for service packages and spare parts in the UK.
- Drive the development and execution of the VTGB rail and marine Sales Strategy to attract new business and expand existing accounts.
- Review and prepare quotations, tenders, and commercial enquiries to secure sustainable growth in sales.
- Provide technical support to both new and existing customers.
- Monitor and report on market requirements and trends to influence business strategy.
- Foster strong relationships within the UK rail industry, leveraging your network to create and maintain a robust sales pipeline.
- Prepare and manage commercial offers with cross-functional teams including engineering and procurement.
- Negotiate contracts and manage commercial aspects effectively.
- Work independently while contributing to the team’s overall objectives.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (e.g., HNC).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in the UK rail sector (marine industry experience advantageous).
- Proven track record of business development and key account management.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of mechanical rail components and, ideally, electrical systems.
- Extensive contacts within the UK rail industry.
- Skills: Strong organizational, project planning, and communication skills.
- Ability to create and deliver against sales KPIs.
- Proficiency in preparing tenders, quotations, and commercial offers.
- Competency in contract negotiation.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.

Package Details:
- Contract Type: Permanent
- Working Hours: Monday – Thursday: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM; Friday: 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM (36.5-hour week)
- Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 (based on experience)
- Bonus: Annual bonus (pro-rata for year of joining)
