Our client located in Southend is growing their team and looking for a Quality Manager with aerospace experience to join them. We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quality Manager to join a well-established aerospace manufacturing environment. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a key leadership role responsible for managing, maintaining and monitoring the Quality Management System, while leading the Inspection team and ensuring full compliance with aerospace standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional with strong aerospace experience who is confident working to AS9100, ISO 9100 and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) requirements.
Purpose of the Role
- Maintain quality control throughout the manufacturing process in line with business standards and customer requirements
- Act as the company’s management representative for all quality matters
- Lead and manage the Inspection and Test departments
- Take primary responsibility for Calibration, Testing, Qualification and associated approvals
- Ensure all calibrated equipment is maintained and ready for manufacturing at all times
- Conduct inspection and verification of parts at all stages of production
- Create and approve FAIR/LAIR documentation to specification
- Oversee and deliver training in VisualFAIR software in line with customer and Design Authority requirements
- Identify resource, investment and approval requirements to support quality standards
- Act as Approved Signatory for Release and other inspection-related processes within the QMS
- Plan and conduct internal and external audits to ISO 9100 and AS9100 standards
- Participate in management review meetings and support wider business objectives
Leadership & Team Responsibilities
- Line management of the Inspection team
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the department
- Identify performance concerns and development opportunities
- Assess and deliver training needs within the team
- Manage daily workload planning, communication and discipline
- Promote knowledge sharing and skills development across the business
Core Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience within the aerospace sector
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9100 / AS9100 and EASA regulations
- Qualified and experienced in conducting internal and external audits
- First Article Inspection experience (FAIR/LAIR)
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Strong initiative and excellent time management skills
- High level of attention to detail and numeracy
- Confident communicator with strong leadership capability
- Committed to implementing company policies and achieving business goals
