Conveyancing Solicitor in Oxford

Conveyancing Solicitor in Oxford

Oxford Full-Time On-site
A

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Conveyancing Solicitor to join a busy, growing and well-established residential property team based in Oxford.

This role would suit an experienced Residential Conveyancing Solicitor or a Newly Qualified (NQ) Solicitor who has gained meaningful hands-on experience managing and progressing their own conveyancing caseload.

The successful candidate will be confident handling residential property transactions, taking responsibility for files from initial instruction through to exchange and completion.

We are looking for someone who is commercially aware, client-focused and proactive, with the ability to manage transactions efficiently while delivering an excellent standard of client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of residential conveyancing transactions from instruction through to completion.
  • Handle freehold and leasehold sales and purchases.
  • Review title documentation, searches, contracts and property information.
  • Raise and respond to enquiries, identifying and resolving potential issues.
  • Prepare contracts, reports on title, completion statements and associated documentation.
  • Liaise directly with clients, estate agents, lenders, brokers and other legal professionals.
  • Provide clear, practical and commercially focused legal advice throughout the conveyancing process.
  • Proactively progress transactions, ensuring deadlines are met and clients are kept informed.
  • Handle exchange, completion and relevant post-completion formalities, including SDLT and Land Registry requirements.
  • Maintain accurate case management records and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal procedures.
  • Deliver excellent client care while contributing to departmental performance and targets.

About You

To be considered, you will ideally have:

  • Qualified Solicitor status in England & Wales.
  • Residential conveyancing experience, either gained post-qualification or during a training contract.
  • Hands-on experience managing and progressing your own residential conveyancing matters.
  • A strong understanding of the conveyancing process from instruction through to completion.
  • Experience handling freehold and leasehold sales and purchases.
  • Confidence dealing directly with clients, lenders, estate agents and other solicitors.
  • The ability to identify and resolve legal and transactional issues.
  • Strong drafting, communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive and commercially minded approach to file management.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.

Experience with new-build transactions, remortgages, transfers of equity, shared ownership or high-volume caseloads would be advantageous but is not essential.

Newly Qualified Solicitors Encouraged to Apply

Applications from Newly Qualified Solicitors are welcomed, provided you can demonstrate meaningful hands-on residential conveyancing experience gained during your training contract or previous legal experience.

You should have been actively involved in managing and progressing conveyancing matters, including dealing with clients, raising and responding to enquiries and working towards exchange and completion.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have already taken responsibility for their own files, rather than solely assisting other fee earners.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be:

  • Client-focused, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the confidence to take ownership of your work.
  • Technically capable, with a solid understanding of residential property transactions.
  • Commercially aware, recognising the importance of efficiency and client service.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail.
  • Team-oriented, while being comfortable managing matters independently.
  • Ambitious and keen to develop your career within a busy residential property team.

If you're a Conveyancing Solicitor based in or around Oxford, or a Newly Qualified Solicitor with hands-on residential conveyancing experience, we'd love to hear from you.
