Our client located in Basildon is recruiting a Quality Manager to join their manufacturing team.
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum (DOE)
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 06:00–16:30
Overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality Manager to join a leading aerospace manufacturing environment. This role reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for the management, maintenance and continuous monitoring of the Quality Management System. The position includes line-management responsibility for the Inspection Team and acting as the organisation’s representative for all quality-related matters. The ideal candidate will have strong aerospace experience, excellent understanding of ISO 9100/AS9100 standards, and proven capability in managing inspection and test activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Management & Compliance
- Maintain and monitor quality control processes to meet internal, regulatory and customer requirements.
- Manage calibration, testing, qualification and associated approval processes.
- Conduct inspection and verification of components and assemblies across all stages of production.
- Ensure calibrated equipment is maintained, compliant and available for operational use.
- Serve as an authorised signatory for product release and inspection processes within the Quality Management System.
- Plan, conduct and support internal and external audits in accordance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 requirements.
- Lead, mentor and develop the Inspection Team, supporting continuous improvement and performance growth.
- Identify and deliver relevant training to support capability development.
- Allocate daily workload and ensure clear communication within the team.
- Participate in management reviews and support wider business objectives.
- Identify resource, investment and approval requirements to maintain quality and compliance standards.
- Ensure quality procedures, company policies and sector standards are consistently applied.
- Work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams to support process improvements and problem‑solving initiatives.
Core Skills & Attributes
- Strong experience within aerospace engineering or aerospace manufacturing.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, customer specifications and technical documentation.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100 and related aerospace quality standards.
- Qualified or experienced in conducting internal and external audits.
- Strong organisational, time management and problem‑solving skills.
- High level of attention to detail and strong numeracy.
- Effective communication skills and competency using IT systems, including spreadsheets and reporting tools.
- Commitment to knowledge sharing, continuous learning and team development.
