Conveyancing Paralegal Location: Chelmsford Salary: £28,000 £32,000 per annum Job Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Opportunity We are currently recruiting for a well-established and growing law firm seeking an experienced Conveyancing Paralegal to join its busy Residential Property team in Chelmsford . This is an excellent opportunity for a confident conveyancing professional who is comfortable managing their own caseload and handling transactions from initial instruction through to completion and post-completion. You will work closely with clients, solicitors, estate agents, lenders and other third parties, providing a professional and efficient service throughout each transaction. Key Responsibilities Independently manage a residential conveyancing caseload from instruction through to post-completion. Handle a range of freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, transfers of equity and re-mortgages. Take client instructions and open new matters in line with firm procedures and compliance requirements. Prepare contracts, legal documents and other transaction documentation. Review title documents and raise and respond to enquiries. Order, review and report on relevant property searches. Liaise with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, brokers, developers and other solicitors. Prepare matters for exchange and completion. Deal with exchanges of contracts and completions. Prepare and submit SDLT returns. Submit Land Registry applications and deal with post-completion requirements. Keep case management systems and client files accurate and up to date. Provide regular and clear updates to clients throughout the conveyancing process. Deliver a consistently high standard of client care and service. About You The successful candidate will have previous experience working within a residential or commercial property department and will be confident handling their own conveyancing files with minimal supervision. You should have: Proven experience managing your own conveyancing caseload from instruction through to post-completion. Strong knowledge of the residential conveyancing process. Experience dealing with both freehold and leasehold transactions. Experience with SDLT returns and Land Registry applications. Excellent organisational and time-management skills. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and legal case management systems. A proactive, professional and client-focused approach. Desirable Experience Experience handling a high-volume residential conveyancing caseload. Knowledge of mortgage lender requirements and panel processes.
