Mechanical Engineer in Croydon, Surrey

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established engineering business supporting customers across sectors including rail, marine, power, oil & gas and industrial engineering.

This is a hands-on, technically varied role involving engineering investigations, problem solving, technical documentation and customer support .

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out BoM checks, condition assessments and technical investigations
• Fault finding, diagnosis and problem solving
• Support overhaul projects and First Article Inspections
• Manage engineering changes, concessions and production permits
• Investigate and manage warranty claims
• Produce technical reports, method statements, overhaul instructions and test procedures
• Review drawings and technical documentation
• Support Sales, Projects, Production, Quality and Operations teams
• Liaise with customers and suppliers on technical matters
• Identify engineering improvements and cost-saving opportunities

About You

• HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 6 years' professional engineering experience
• Strong hands-on engineering and problem-solving background
• Experience with technical investigations and report writing
• Knowledge of BS 8888 and ISO 9001:2015
• Understanding of overhaul/engineering processes
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Proactive, adaptable and commercially aware
• Experience in rail, marine, power, oil & gas or industrial engineering would be advantageous
• Knowledge of mechanical driveline products would be beneficial but is not essential
