Private Client Solicitor / Fee Earner 1-2PQE
Location: Weybridge, Surrey
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: Market rate, dependent on experience, plus bonus for achieving billing targets
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Private Client Solicitor / Fee Earner to join our clients expanding Private Client Department in Weybridge.
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload involving bespoke, complex and high-value estate administration, together with Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs).
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious private client professional who is looking to develop their career within a growing firm. There are genuine opportunities for progression, including the potential to progress towards partnership level in the future.
The successful candidate will be expected to manage their own caseload, build strong client relationships and demonstrate a consistent track record of billing performance.
Key Responsibilities
Probate & Estate Administration
You will be responsible for handling a range of estate administration matters, including:
- Dealing with new client enquiries and initial queries.
- Taking detailed instructions from clients and other relevant parties.
- Establishing and valuing the assets and liabilities of an estate.
- Preparing Inheritance Tax forms and applications for Grants of Representation.
- Undertaking the administration and distribution of estate assets, including property.
- Advising on and undertaking work relating to ancillary trust arrangements.
- Preparing estate administration accounts.
- Calculating tax liabilities arising during the administration of an estate.
- Managing matters from initial instruction through to completion.
- Providing clear, commercially focused advice to clients throughout the process.
Wills
The role will also involve:
- Dealing with new Will enquiries.
- Taking detailed instructions from clients.
- Advising on appropriate estate planning arrangements.
- Preparing and drafting Wills, including the incorporation of trust arrangements where appropriate.
- Ensuring Wills are correctly executed and witnessed.
- Maintaining a high standard of client care and technical accuracy.
Lasting Powers of Attorney
Responsibilities will include:
- Dealing with new LPA enquiries.
- Taking instructions from clients.
- Advising clients on the appropriate arrangements.
- Preparing and drafting Lasting Powers of Attorney.
- Submitting LPAs for registration.
- Liaising with clients and relevant third parties throughout the process.
About You
We are looking for a committed and ambitious private client professional who can demonstrate:
- 1–2 years' PQE or equivalent experience in private client work.
- A proven track record of consistent billing performance.
- Experience handling a caseload independently.
- Strong technical knowledge across probate, estate administration, Wills and LPAs.
- Experience dealing with complex and/or high-value estates.
- Excellent client care and communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Commercial awareness and a focus on delivering high-quality work efficiently.
- The confidence and ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to the wider team.
- A genuine ambition to develop their career and progress within the firm.
