A1 Personnel is on the lookout for skilled Plant Mechanics and motivated Trainee Plant Technicians to join our client’s busy and fast-growing depot in Beccles. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out in your mechanical career, we want to hear from you.

What’s the Role?

As a Plant Mechanic, you’ll work both in our fully-equipped depot and out in the field, maintaining and repairing a wide range of heavy plant equipment. As a Trainee Plant Technician, you’ll receive hands-on training and mentoring from experienced engineers while learning how to service and maintain industry-standard machinery.

Equipment You'll Work On:

  • Excavators
  • Loaders
  • Dump Trucks
  • Cranes
  • Telehandlers
  • Conveyors
  • 4 Tonne Crushers

Your Day-to-Day Will Include:

  • Servicing and repairing a variety of plant machinery
  • Pre-delivery inspections to ensure high performance standards
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out maintenance with minimal supervision
  • Supporting the Depot Manager and Rental Team to meet daily demands
  • Completing job cards, paperwork, and timesheets accurately
  • Attending occasional on-site breakdowns (for experienced mechanics)
  • Learning from senior technicians and developing hands-on skills (for trainees)

What We’re Looking For:

For Experienced Plant Mechanics:

  • Proven background in heavy plant maintenance or a related trade
  • Strong mechanical knowledge across multiple plant types
  • Reliable, safety-conscious, and self-motivated
  • Full set of your own tools
  • Full UK driving licence preferred

For Trainee Technicians:

  • A genuine interest in mechanics and engineering
  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and get stuck in
  • Good problem-solving mindset
  • Basic mechanical skills are a plus but not essential
  • Punctual, team-oriented, and keen to build a long-term career
