Quality Engineer - Injection Moulding & Paint Spraying

Location: Basildon, Essex

Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm (1 hour lunch)

Start Date: Immediate

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Quality & Process Engineer/ Manager to join a growing manufacturing operation in Basildon.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing quality standards across both the Injection Moulding and Paint Spraying departments. This role requires someone with strong injection moulding knowledge and experience OR with an understanding of paint spraying processes. The ability to support both departments is essential, ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout the entire manufacturing process.

This position would suit someone with experience between junior and senior level who is looking to take ownership of quality processes and play a key role in a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain quality standards across Injection Moulding and Paint Spraying operations.
  • Carry out product inspections and specification checks.
  • Identify, assess and investigate product defects.
  • Ensure products meet customer specifications and internal quality requirements.
  • Monitor quality throughout the manufacturing process, from moulding through to painting and final inspection.
  • Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Work closely with production teams to improve product quality and reduce defects.
  • Maintain quality documentation, inspection records and reports.
  • Develop and maintain visual quality standards and defect catalogues.
  • Conduct incoming, in-process and final inspections.
  • Support process improvements and continuous improvement activities.
  • Provide quality support across both departments as production requirements change.

Experience Required

Essential

  • Previous quality experience within a manufacturing environment 3+ years
  • Strong knowledge and experience of plastic injection moulding processes minimum 3+ years
  • Experience carrying out product inspections and quality checks.
  • Ability to identify defects and investigate quality issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and a hands-on approach.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Experience within paint spraying, coating or surface finishing operations.
  • Experience with automated or robotic paint systems.
  • Knowledge of process validation and quality improvement techniques.
  • Experience creating visual inspection standards and quality documentation.

Additional Information

The business is currently operating on a day shift of 8:00am - 5:00pm. As the company continues to expand, a two-shift operation will be introduced, with shift times to be confirmed.
