This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced
Class 1 HGV driver with ADR qualifications who wants to use their experience in a key operational role, helping to ensure the safe, efficient and compliant movement of vehicles and trailers across the site.
Working a
4 On / 4 Off shift pattern , you will be at the heart of the transport operation, working closely with drivers, the Transport Office and site teams to keep vehicle movements running smoothly and safely.
The Role
As Yard Marshall, you will play a vital role in coordinating activity across the transport yard and supporting drivers throughout their shifts.
Your responsibilities will include
- Managing and monitoring the safe parking and positioning of tractors and trailers across the Thurrock site.
- Supporting the efficient turnaround of company and contract drivers collecting loaded trailers.
- Helping to reduce loading overtime and improve operational efficiency.
- Acting as the first point of contact for drivers starting their shifts.
- Promoting safe, efficient and compliant working practices in line with transport legislation and company procedures.
- Monitoring yard activities and reporting any non-conformities, incidents or safety concerns to the Transport Team.
- Ensuring all site safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Maintaining accurate records of trailer movements and changes during shunting operations.
- Pre-loading backloads as directed by the Transport Office.
- Supporting continuous improvement across the transport operation.
- Maintaining clear and effective communication between drivers, the Transport Office and wider site teams.
- Positively representing the company when dealing with customers, suppliers, contractors and drivers.
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety, environmental, ISO and company procedures.

Essential Requirements
HGV Class 1 (C+E) Licence.
ADR Qualification.
- Strong understanding of
ADR regulations and transport compliance .
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive working relationships with drivers, contractors, colleagues and site personnel.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach to health and safety.
- The ability to identify issues and take appropriate action to maintain safe and efficient operations.
Previous experience within a transport, logistics, chemical or bulk haulage environment would be advantageous.
