We’re looking for a Multi Modal Export & Cross Trade Operator to join our team and play a key role in the successful delivery of international shipments across sea, air and road.

This is more than simply processing bookings. You’ll be at the heart of our Export & Cross Trade operation, building relationships, solving problems, supporting customers and helping us find smarter and more profitable ways to move freight around the world.

What you'll be doing

You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day management of export bookings and shipments, making sure our customers receive the service they expect — and, wherever possible, a little more.

Your role will include:

• Managing multi-modal export and cross-trade shipments from booking through to delivery.
• Handling export enquiries, bookings, collections and overseas deliveries.
• Coordinating shipments across sea, air and road freight.
• Liaising with customers, hauliers, 3PL providers, carriers, customs authorities and overseas agents.
• Managing customs documentation and ensuring shipments comply with relevant regulations.
• Obtaining and negotiating competitive rates with suppliers and logistics partners.
• Keeping shipment information, costs and documentation accurate and up to date.
• Creating and managing shipments within LBase, our internal operations system.
• Ensuring all costs are accurately logged and export jobs are invoiced promptly.
• Working closely with Accounts to resolve sales and cost queries.
• Supporting the sales team with leads, pricing, shipment information and operational expertise.
• Helping develop new business and strengthen relationships with existing customers.
• Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce lead times and maximise profitability.
• Supporting colleagues during busy periods and providing holiday/absence cover where required.
• Sharing your knowledge and helping train new members of the team.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who understands freight forwarding from the inside out.

You’ll ideally have proven experience in Export Multi-Modal and Cross Trade operations within a freight forwarding environment, together with:

• A strong understanding of export operational workflows and international logistics.
• Experience coordinating shipments, documentation and multiple stakeholders.
• Good working knowledge of customs procedures, tariff classifications and duty/VAT principles.
• Experience working with overseas agents and international logistics partners.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Exceptional attention to detail, particularly when it comes to documentation, costs and compliance.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of the importance of both customer service and profitability.
• Confidence negotiating with suppliers and logistics providers.
• A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving.
• The ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.

Working hours

Our core hours are 9:00am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, with up to one hour for an unpaid lunch break.

Due to the nature of international freight forwarding, a flexible approach to working hours is essential. International logistics doesn't always run neatly to a timetable — and neither does a successful freight forwarding operation.
