Our client are a leading stone restoration and conservation company based in Glasgow, specialising in the preservation and repair of Scotland’s historic buildings. Working across a diverse portfolio of heritage, conservation, and refurbishment projects, we are seeking an experienced Senior Stonemason to join our growing team and play a key role in delivering high-quality craftsmanship on some of Scotland’s most significant buildings.

The Role

As a Senior Stonemason, you will be responsible for leading and carrying out a wide range of stonemasonry and restoration works on historic and traditional buildings. You will work closely with site management, clients, and other skilled trades, ensuring all works are completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and craftsmanship. This role is ideal for an experienced stonemason with strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and a passion for heritage conservation.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out complex stone repairs, replacements, and restoration works
  • Banker masonry, including the production of indents, mouldings, and carved stone elements
  • Fixing and installation of natural stone on site
  • Assessing existing stonework and determining appropriate repair methods
  • Undertaking lime mortar pointing and traditional masonry techniques
  • Supervising and mentoring junior stonemasons, trainees, and operatives
  • Ensuring work is completed in accordance with conservation principles and project specifications
  • Working closely with site managers, architects, conservation officers, and other trades
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship, productivity, and site safety
  • Assisting with project planning, material requirements, and quality control
