You will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of recycling operatives in the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant processing of recyclable materials. As a Team Leader, you will ensure productivity targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality, health and safety, and customer service.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of recycling operatives.
- Allocate tasks and monitor staff performance throughout shifts.
- Ensure recyclable materials are sorted, processed, and stored correctly.
- Conduct quality checks to minimise contamination and maximise recycling rates.
- Monitor workflow and productivity, ensuring operational targets are achieved.
- Train, mentor, and support new and existing team members.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, environmental regulations, and health and safety procedures.
- Carry out toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Report equipment faults and liaise with maintenance teams when required.
- Complete operational records, reports, and documentation accurately.
- Manage attendance, timekeeping, and shift cover where necessary.
- Investigate and report accidents, incidents, or near misses.
- Promote a positive team culture and encourage continuous improvement.
