A1 Jobs are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in shopfitting, interior fit-out, and retail refurbishment projects to join our clients growing team operating across Scotland.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded QS who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience managing multiple fit-out projects from pre-construction through to final account. You will work closely with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered profitably, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing project costs from tender stage through to final account
- Preparing valuations, variations, and cost reports
- Procuring subcontractors and negotiating packages
- Monitoring project budgets and identifying commercial risks
- Reviewing and administering subcontractor payments
- Preparing and submitting interim applications for payment
- Supporting project delivery teams with commercial advice
- Managing change control procedures and contract administration
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Ensuring projects achieve commercial targets and margins
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within shopfitting, retail fit-out, or interior refurbishment
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction processes
- Experience managing fast-track fit-out projects
- Excellent understanding of subcontract procurement and cost control
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting systems
- Full UK driving licence
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management preferred
Desirable Experience
- Experience working on retail, hospitality, leisure, or commercial interiors
- Knowledge of JCT contracts
- Experience working with national retail clients
- Familiarity with site-based project environments across Scotland
